Raindrop.io
I’ve always had a browser tab problem. I’ll open stuff, then procrastinate on consuming the content, and leave it open. I have the browser set to reopen all tabs after closing the browser. That way I don’t lose anything. I’ve tried tab manager extensions like Session Buddy. With the recent browser feature of tab groups, I’ve been using that as well. It doesn’t matter how many times I save sessions or group tabs, it’s like more will gather to replace the ones I just closed or minimized. Once in awhile, I’ll go through and close every tab, only for them to start accumulating again the next day. (There are a few specific tabs that always remain open: Gmail and Calendar. Roam was included too, until I switched to Obsidian.)
I’ve been giving Raindrop.io a try, and like it. It gives me more flexibility to categorize and tag bookmarks. I can use the “Save all tabs” to easily dump groups in at a time, automatically tagged with the date. Tonight, I just realized I should use this more.
What I want is a “nightly review” to go through and put any open tabs into Raindrop, tagging them as “#consume later”. And then close all of them. No exceptions. It will be nice to go to bed each night without the “neural shadow” taking up mental bandwidth of having tabs open in my browsers.
