First day in LA

I felt a lot of anxiety in preparation for this trip. Very outside my comfort zone. I hate driving. And I heard LA’s traffic is very bad. I was going to Uber everywhere. But I decided to rent a car, so I would have a place to keep my belongings before checking in at my Airbnb (which is also a first for me). I went with this blue, economy car.
I drove straight to the beach. I had booked a surfing lesson. I surfed once in Japan. Or tried to. I wasn’t able to stand on the board. But this time was successful! There was a girl there by herself who I approached and asked to take these photos of me. It turned out that she spoke Mandarin, and I spoke a tiny bit with her.
The improv friend that I talked in Meeting online frens, I met her in-person again! 3 days and 700+ miles apart. She wanted to get a group of her improv friends to come out and celebrate my birthday and practice some scenes. But it ended up with just us. She treated me to dinner at a Japanese restaurant.
